"WELL-BEING
AND HEALTH CONTRACT" In purchasing a puppy you are agreeing to be responsible for the puppy/dog during its entire lifetime by making a financial and personal commitment to care for the puppy’s well-being and health. Some of these responsibilities are as follows: 1.
Providing a safe environment for the puppy/dog: (a) making your home
“puppy” proof; (b) not letting small children or other pets
play with the puppy unsupervised; ©) not locking the puppy/dog
in a car during warm/hot weather; (d) not giving the puppy small or
rawhide chew toys; (e) keeping the puppy/dog in a fenced area, with
locked gates, away from traffic; The breeder has made a commitment to you to sell you a healthy pet, with all vaccinations current, wormed, a fourteen-day treatment against coccidia, and checked by her vet. She has given you a three-day written health guarantee/warranty during which time you must have your puppy checked by your vet (please refer to attached warranty). Further, the breeder has a commitment to the puppy to place it in a safe and caring environment. If the breeder feels, after talking with a prospective purchaser, that it is not in the best interest of the puppy to be placed in his/her home, the breeder can refuse to sell the puppy. PARVO WARRANTY: Please note: a small/toy puppy can contract parvo within three to five days from contact. This contact can be at your vet when you take the puppy for its check-up. (Note: limit the risk by either holding the puppy or keeping it in a pet taxi and not letting it down on the floor, do not let anyone in the waiting room touch the puppy, bring newspaper from home and place the puppy on it on the examining table, and make sure your vet washes his hands before touching your puppy). Throw the newspaper away at the vet’s office and be sure to wash your hands. If your puppy becomes ill with parvo within five (5) days from the date of purchase and if it can be proven that the puppy contracted it at the breeder’s (*), the purchaser must take the puppy to the breeder’s vet at the Frazier Animal Hospital, Greenville, SC, for treatment and the breeder will pay for the treatment (if treated at your vet, the breeder will pay one-half of the treatment bill). In such case, the breeder will also refund the purchase price. After the five days, no matter what your vet tells you, it could not have been contracted at the breeder’s and the breeder has no responsibility for same. A puppy is not fully vaccinated against parvo until up to 10 days after it has received the third booster. NEVER TAKE A SICK PUPPY BACK TO THE BREEDER’S KENNEL. If it does have parvo, this will put any present puppies and future litters at risk. Call the breeder and discuss the situation with her by phone. THIS WARRANTY IS NULL AND VOID IF THE PUPPY IS PLACED IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE PARVO PREVIOUSLY OR PRESENTLY EXISTS. (*) Please note that just one puppy from a litter cannot develop parvo and not the whole litter. Therefore, if your puppy develops parvo after leaving the kennel and none of the other puppies develop it, it is impossible for the puppy to have contracted it at the breeder’s kennel. After reading the above, I am fully committed to providing the financial and personal support for the well-being and health of the puppy which I am purchasing.
